Change4Campbelltown is working with community leaders, champions and local residents to carry out community-led actions and create positive change in the health and wellbeing of local kids and their families.
Change4Campbelltown was launched in April 2018 by Cr Margaret Chivers and SWSLHD Chief Executive Amanda Larkin.
A series of community workshops were held with representatives from the Departments of Health and Education, Campbelltown Council, sporting clubs, NGOs, local businesses and community members. During these workshops, leaders and champions identified the many factors influencing children's health and wellbeing. Working together they identified a number of actions which could be taken to create opportunities for children and families to eat well, be active and live a healthy lifestyle in Campbelltown City.
The project is a whole-of-systems approach to children's health and is supported by South Western Sydney Local Health District, Campbelltown City Council and Deakin University. It is funded by the NSW Ministry of Health and has ethical approval from the SWSLHD Human Research and Ethics Committee and the School Education Research Approval Process.
